A true shaman, the Mayans say, is a master of love. In the Mayan language, shaman means an ancient person who knows mayapan. The word mayapan means both antiquity and wisdom.
A Mayan priest once said: Only Love can understand the ancient. The priest lives in mayapan, i. the priest lives in love itself, in essence itself, in antiquity itself. He does not serve society, he lives in overtime, ie. in what Zarathustra calls constant time, i.e. eternity, time that never ceases.
