Impurity is the enemy of Life. Impurity disturbs Peace. Purity is not where people usually seek it. True Purity is found in the Divine Life. When you live this Divine Life, no one can defile you. Even if they drag you through the mud, even if they blacken your name, they still cannot defile you.

Purity is not found in outward forms, nor in quotations. Purity lies in the intensity of thought and feeling, that is, in the intensity of Spiritual Life.
Only Purity clears and opens the Way. Many people wash and bathe several times a day, yet inwardly they are not truly pure and chaste.
Consider the cat. You will hardly find an animal more fastidious about cleanliness, yet inwardly it is not pure, for it thinks only of mice and swallows them whole, skin, entrails, and all. Indeed, many people resemble the cat! A human being does not become impure on the outside, but on the inside. Impurity comes from within: from the heart, from desires, and from thoughts.

Omraam on the Spiritual Path and Inner Purification
The first task of a spiritually awakened person is to purify, illuminate, and ennoble the heart and mind through the mighty powers of the Soul and Spirit.
Those who have chosen the Spiritual Path can, in peace and harmony, reach the realms of intuition. They then become like the surface of a lake of crystal-clear water, in which Heaven is reflected in its entirety.

To regain our Purity and Light, we must return to the Centre.
You will find true Purity at the Summit, at the very Source.
Everything that God has created can, through the power of thought, serve to ennoble, purify, and strengthen you.
Whoever meditates upon a mystical Truth is inwardly ascending a high mountain, for that Truth connects them with Heaven, while the Water flowing within them purifies and revitalises their being.

It is written in the Emerald Tablet:
"You shall separate the subtle from the gross."
That is, the pure from the impure.
A person separates the pure from the impure just as gold or precious stones are extracted from ore.
Therefore, whether we are dealing with the physical, etheric, astral, or mental body, we must learn to discriminate, to choose carefully, and to admit nothing stale, dusty, mouldy, or fermented into our being.
Discernment is an entire science in itself.
Thoughts and feelings are not composed of the same kinds of matter. There are degrees of refinement among them, and the higher you ascend in search of these substances, the purer they become.
Indeed, this principle can already be observed on the physical plane: everything pure is light and rises upwards, while everything impure is heavy and settles at the bottom, like sediment and mud.
And the purer the particles from which something is built, the more enduring they are.
Therefore, build your body from the purest particles, and you will withstand all suffering, even death itself. For the matter at your disposal will be of such a quality that neither suffering nor death will have power over it.
Disease and death have power only when they succeed in imposing their influence upon something.
Even the Devil can gain a hold over a person only if he finds weaknesses and vices within them, that is, impure matter.
The Gospels tell us that demons possessed certain beings. Why?
Because they found within those beings impure nourishment suited to their nature.

Purity and impurity are the result of the quantity and quality of the nourishment we receive and assimilate on every plane of existence.
When someone finds it difficult to see clearly in the realm of ideas, it is because impure elements have accumulated within them and clouded their vision.
In former times, people used oil lamps for lighting, and every day the woman of the house had to clean the glass chimney, which had become blackened by smoke.
The spark exists within every one of us, but it cannot manifest because the glass has not been cleaned.
The clean glass represents chaste Purity, while the Light passing through it represents Holiness.
When the Soul manifests through the heart, a person becomes pure and chaste. When the Spirit manifests through the mind, a person becomes Holy.
Suspicion, slander, hesitation, and doubt are forms of impurity.
The proof is that they introduce poison into your being.
Therefore, anyone who wishes to become purified must put an end to all these things once and for all, replacing them with trust, Love, and above all, selflessness.
A being who does not do the Will of God can be neither Pure nor Holy. If you are not wholly devoted to the Lord, you may be certain that other forces will come to occupy you, and you will eventually find yourself serving all manner of strange, selfish, and chaotic wills.

The Initiates sought to fulfil the Will of God because this is a magical act. By desiring with all their strength to do the Lord's Will, they unite themselves with Him. And it is precisely through this Union that they become truly Pure and Holy. I do not advise you to yield to your mediumistic inclinations before you have accomplished the work of purification and inner elevation that will enable you to withstand the attacks of the dark forces.

It Is Dangerous to Enter the Spiritual World Without First Purifying Yourself
These "sorcerer's apprentices", who have forcibly acquired clairvoyant abilities without first working upon Purity, Virtue, and self-mastery, risk finding themselves at war with invisible Beings, and ultimately facing their own tragic end.

Whoever has neglected the work of purification and self-mastery risks seeing the Fire of Kundalini erupt within them and bring devastation. By contrast, those who begin by cultivating Purity and self-mastery are also working, albeit indirectly, upon their chakras, which gradually awaken and begin to function without danger.

You must develop the habit of working upon the matter of your physical body, purifying it and making it more sensitive and receptive.
In this way, your Soul will be able to register the realities of the Divine World with ever-increasing ease. The Guardian of the Threshold can do nothing against those who are Pure and fearless. If at times you feel unwell or become ill, you should regard this as a sign: Heaven is inviting you to undertake something of great importance, to work upon yourself and your purification, something you would not otherwise have done of your own accord. Accept these difficulties with appreciation and gratitude.

It is preferable that even the slightest impurity entering your being should manifest immediately, so that you can quickly put things right, or at least take the necessary measures. Otherwise, if impurities continue to accumulate without your even becoming aware of them, it will later be extremely difficult to free yourself.
Whatever sins or crimes may have been committed, the human soul can be purified through the Divine Soul to which it is connected.

Our True Self is beyond thoughts, feelings, and actions: it is Pure Light. Consider the two triangles in the Seal of Solomon. The Spirit, represented by the downward-pointing triangle, descends to incarnate in matter. Matter, represented by the upward-pointing triangle, must become increasingly subtle and pure, so that it no longer resists the vibrations of the Spirit working upon it, seeking to restore it to its Primordial Purity, its Primordial Light.

The alchemists called these two processes solve et coagula, meaning dissolution and coagulation.
Those who succeed in reaching the realms of Divine Light and Love receive streams of extraordinarily pure and powerful particles, which penetrate into the very depths of their being and nourish every cell of their body.

Yet receiving this Light requires long preparation, for it is a current of unimaginable power. If the path has not been cleared, if this current encounters impurity, it consumes everything in its way.
