"Evil enters every life where there is an abuse of Free Will and Free Choice. This means that when a being errs in its choice, the forces of destruction are immediately activated, as it has encroached upon the Sanctity of the Ancient Spirit of Eternity. Evil was born on the path of freedom and the misuse of freedom." — Eleazar Harash
In this article, we will explore the concept of free will, the misuse of free will, and the question of whether everything comes from God. In today's world, many people say, "everything is from God," but great spiritual Teachers have warned that this is categorically untrue. Often, passivity and a lack of discernment hide behind phrases like "everything is from God," as they serve as convenient excuses. However, the truth is that EVERYTHING EXISTS WITHIN GOD, but not everything is from God. Many things are the result of beings' freedom of choice and misuse of it.
In a lecture on May 6, 1917, Teacher Beinsa Douno emphasizes that everyone should look within themselves, to recognize that evil resides within their distorted perceptions, stating: "Do not think that everything that exists was created by God. God permitted evil, but He did not create it."
Teacher Beinsa Douno underscores that the misuse of free will is the root of many negative manifestations in the world, including violence, hatred, murder, destruction, etc. Evil, as he describes it, results from beings’ deviation from their true Divine origin and calling. He emphasizes that God allowed the existence of evil so that beings could learn, improve, and strive for good, but He did not create it. Evil was created by beings themselves through the abuse of free will – it is the bitter fruit of those who sought separation from God in Ancient times. They were granted freedom; God gave it to them because God is Love and knows that one day they will return—not through force but through Love, after coming to know their own evil and the idea of autonomy, independence, and separation. It is this self-will of beings that has been given the colloquial name "devil." "The freedom of the robber is from God, but his actions are not from God." — Teacher, May 4, 1932
The devil is not something external; it is the misuse of granted freedom. All acts of violence, murder, the creation of weapons, nuclear bombs, and various deviations, including artificial intelligence today, are all permitted by God and occur within God, but they are not from Him.
The Teacher tells his disciples in a lecture given on April 4, 1920: "You wonder why the world was created this way. There are things in the world that God did not make."
The Teacher explains: "The world you are dissatisfied with was created by humans. It is a human world. To say that the world created by God is bad means that either you are not speaking the Truth, or you do not understand it."
The Teacher of the Universal White Brotherhood is absolutely clear that not everything is created by God. In a lecture from December 15, 1929, he states:
"Not everything that is created was created by God. You are remarkable. Are all the monuments in Sofia created by God? Are all the houses in London, and all of New York, created by God? Is the world created by God? Are the rocks in nature created by God? Are the springs in nature created by God? Neither the rocks nor the springs are created by God. Yet, it is said that God created everything. There is only one thing that God created and in which He participated. After creating all these forms, He said: 'Let us make man in our image and likeness.' After He said, 'let there be this, let there be that,' He said, 'Let there be light.' And there was light. Finally, God said: 'Let Me make something.' He said: 'Let us make man in the image and likeness of God.' And He made it. The only thing God made is the human being. And He put His seal on it. For other things, He did not say they should be in the image and likeness of God, but for the human being, He did. For the others, He just said, 'Let there be light!' And there was light." "Both evil and good – everything is for good, but not everything is from God." — Teacher, August 8, 1935
"Whoever has tried to divide life has introduced evil into the world. Everything created by God is unified, indivisible, and therefore should be used as it was given. There is something in a human being created by God, but this garment in which we are now dressed is not created by God. That is why the Scripture says, 'That which is born of the Spirit is Spirit, and that which is born of flesh is flesh.' The human being created by Spirit, the true human, has not yet manifested. Currently, as humans live, it is the animal-human that manifests. When we speak of people created by God, they do not differ among themselves; they are alike, and there is no discord among them. Since the world began, there has not been a single instance where such people said a bad word to each other or quarreled. But those on Earth, created from flesh, quarrel ten times a day. Yet, they still consider themselves people created by God," says Teacher Beinsa Douno. And in 1940, he further emphasizes:
"There is something in a human that God did not create. There is something in a human created by God, but there is also something that was not created by Him. That which was not created by Him must be purified, disciplined, or removed from the Divine nature in a human. The Divine nature in a human has three qualities: intelligence, sensitivity, and strength.
I say: Why did God make the world like this? Evil in the world was not created by God. God did not create the world this way. This world is ours, this life is ours. And the Divine world is an excellent world; it is the world of Love!
God is not responsible for the difficulties and limitations you find yourselves in. You must work hard, pray until you correct your mistakes. If people do not live well, the reason is that God is not among them.God is not the God of the dead but of the living."
