From a Kabbalistic perspective. Since comets are linked to the desire to give, I will first say a few things about the nature of desire, and then I will explain something about the secrets of comets.

According to Kabbalah, the secret of the desire to give—speaking of pure giving—lies in its ability to remove time and space. When a student learns to receive in order to give, they come into contact with the Cosmos and the Higher Hierarchies. Kabbalistically, the desire to receive for oneself leads to a contraction of inner consciousness, which results in the loss of free will. A person who abuses their free choice eventually loses their will. For such individuals, surprises arise that bring turmoil and destruction to their development unless they awaken.

Comets symbolize surprises. According to Kabbalah, comets are rebels in our solar system. They do not appear according to the ordinary laws of life but unexpectedly. All planets move in a set order around the Sun, but comets follow no order. They appear unusually, suddenly, and mysteriously. A comet has a secret movement, which is why scientists are always confused, as it defies their calculations, i.e., the calculations of the mind. Comets are secret members of our solar system. "Shavit" means comet in Hebrew. Its secret is hidden within the letters. In the Hebrew letters, the energy of the very idea is encoded.

The comet appears unexpectedly to create in a person an impulse to enter a new level, a new ascent, a dive into the inner worlds. According to Kabbalah, this deeper view is connected with the coming of the Messiah. This means that comets are laws of the White Brotherhood. The comet is an Occult force that crushes those devoted to the mind. Scientists have chosen the path of science, not the Path of Initiation.

For the awakened, comets are considered signs of balance and Freedom. For scientists, they are a sign of evil. They destroy their perceptions because those perceptions are false. According to Kabbalah, comets have a Mystical form: a head and a tail. Kabbalistically, this is one of the most powerful letters, connected to the Secret Name of God. This letter carries a great charge of energy and creates a cycle within the person, transforming them. This letter takes the form of a serpent. Through the serpent, God transforms man; the serpent is the instrument.

Kabbalists ask a very delicate question: Is the tail of the comet something separate from the head, or are they one? The tail is a symbol, separate from the head, meaning the tail symbolizes the world, i.e., what is emitted from the head, and the head is the Divine world.

To observe a comet with a telescope is foolishness. First of all, the telescope is foolishness. The second foolishness is the two eyes, the two consciousnesses. The truth lies in a single Eye. The life of a comet can only be observed with the Secret Eye and the power of the blessing that comes from God through the Master.

According to Kabbalah, to see God in a comet is a Secret Science. The student will inevitably encounter many dangerous and Mystical experiences. Some Initiates have not endured and have regressed in their development. To see God, the Ancient One, in a grain of sand or in a comet is a Secret Science—one that is still not spoken of.
